We have partnered with The Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust (JRCT) on a recruitment campaign for six roles to join their growing team.
JRCT is a responsive grant making, Quaker organisation based in York, which tackles the root causes of conflict and injustice in society. They grant up to £11m per year, allocated across five different programmes and support grantees throughout the duration of their grants.
With increased spend due to COVID-19 and subsequent under capacity, it was crucial to increase their team. As a purpose and values driven organisation, our partnership approach was essential in the discovery phase of our relationship, to gauge a proper understanding of JRCT as an organisation and as a result get the role adverts, messaging and marketing materials we created, in line with JRCT. Our brief included the drive to encourage more applicants representative of the communities and grassroots organisations JRCT serves. Our approach focused on maximising the opportunity for diversity of experience and thought as part of their applicant pool.
Therefore, as part of our selection criteria we introduced a requirement for ‘lived experience’ of the issues that the JRCT programmes work to address. We worked closely with our JRCT colleagues, reporting back frequently, keeping them updated on our dual-branded campaign developments, as well as advising on interview process best practice, for JRCT to incorporate and build on for not only this campaign, but also future campaigns.
40% of all applicants identified as being from a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic (BAME) background. This is significantly higher than the national average of 15% (data taken from Ethnicity Facts Figures Service.gov.uk).
Our campaign closed with JRCT successfully appointing six new staff members including a Programme Manager (Rights & Justice) and x4 Grants Officers across all programmes.
