Beware of scams: Protect yourself from fraudulent messages

At Diversifying Group, we're committed to your safety and security. We would like to ask our candidates to beware of a current scam that targets job seekers. Fraudsters may reach out to you impersonating consultants with job opportunities or offers in order to get your personal information or request payment. It's crucial to be vigilant and verify the authenticity of any messages you receive.

Recruitment scams are not always obvious. Here are a few tips on how to identify a fraudulent message:

  • It’s from an unknown phone number, country code or email address.

  • It contains a link; these may contain malware that could be installed on your device so avoid clicking on these.

  • It contains sudden requests for payment or pressure to act quickly.

  • It contains poor spelling and/or grammar.

  • It contains unrealistic salary or working arrangements - if it’s too good to be true it probably is.

For your safety, we strongly advise:

  • Do not respond to these messages.

  • Do not share any personal information, banking details, or make any payments requested through these messages.

  • Report the scam message to your local authorities or the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) through their official website for further investigation.

At Diversifying Group, we might contact you by text message, however:

  • Initial contact will usually be via an email address containing @diversifying.com or via LinkedIn.

  • We never send job offers or requests for personal information via text message to individuals who have not registered with our agency.

  • We will never ask a candidate to pay fees as part of the recruitment process.

  • We have an office phone number on our website, so you can give us a call if you’re not sure of anything.

Stay alert and safeguard yourself against fraudulent activity. If you have any doubts or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us directly using the contact details below:

LET'S GET INTO IT 🤓

Labour Party reverses on trans rights ⚧️

What's the latest?
After criticism from the right, Labour leader Keir Starmer has backtracked on trans rights. In a BBC radio interview, he said: “A woman is an adult female, so let’s clear that one up." There has also been a notable shift in their position on gender recognition reform - they no longer support the self-ID of trans people and Anneliese Dodds, Shadow Secretary of State for Women and Equalities, has spoken of protecting "biological women."

The response
LGBT+ Labour group have called the shift "very concerning", and say they will "push the Labour Party to continue to go further for our trans siblings, including on de-medicalised self-ID." Stonewall have said the UK has "gone from leading to lagging" on gender recognition.

Making breastfeeding work at work

The numbers
More than half a billion working women are not given "essential maternity protections." Moreover, the UK has some of the lowest breastfeeding rates, with eight out of ten stopping before they're ready.

What needs to change?
Employers have a responsibility to make breastfeeding at work comfortable and easy. The WHO have now published new guidelines which include: providing good parental leave and flexible working arrangements upon return; providing the time and physical space required for breastfeeding; exploring other accommodations such as on-site childcare.

Black female execs are leaving the entertainment industry

What's happening?
The Guardian have identified a troubling trend of black women exiting top entertainment and media companies. Some were laid off, others quit with varying reasons, but the trend has attracted concern.

Why?
We can't say for sure, but a lot of these hires were first made during the racial reckoning sparked by the BLM protests. One suggestion is that diversity efforts are no longer a priority, budgets are being cut and diversity fatigue is a big problem - something we're finding with our clients too. Another suggestion is that D&I roles take an emotional toll which often translates to lower retention rates.

Do you have diversity fatigue?

Definitely
A bit
No, but I understand it
Hell no
